Before you begin.

Do I need experience with CAD?

No. Smile Editor was designed to reduce the complexity typical of dental software, with sculpting tools, a tooth library, and a guided marking workflow.

Can I plan the smile directly in the software?

Yes. Besides the 3D editor with sculpting and boolean operations, there's a 2D smile simulator with video generation for patient presentations.

Does the software work offline?

3D and 2D editing runs in the browser. Cases are saved to the cloud, and video generation and simulations require a connection.

Do I need a 3D printer?

It's required to run the full workflow, but you can start learning planning and design before getting your equipment.

Can I export the models?

Yes. Arches and mockups can be exported as STL for printing, with printer and resin calibration built into the workflow.

What file formats does the editor accept?

STL and PLY. Models can be imported, edited, and exported directly in the browser, with no software installation required.

How does the tooth library work?

The library offers ready-made teeth with shape and texture variations, automatically positioned in the corresponding region of the arch using vestibular curves.

Can I edit more than one tooth at a time?

Yes. You can select multiple teeth and apply movement, mirroring, and other transformations to them together.

Is the occlusal map automatic?

Yes. Smile Editor calculates the occlusal map in real time over the arches, showing contact areas in earthy tones for fit analysis.

Can I use the patient's smile photo?

Yes. You import the photo, mark the lip contour points, and the software aligns the photograph with the 3D model for an integrated view.

Is there a sectional cut tool?

Yes. The sectional cut lets you view internal planes of the model in 2D, useful for checking thicknesses and fit before printing.

Can I freely sculpt the teeth?

Yes. There are sculpting brushes with adjustable size and strength, including reduce, smooth, drag, and periquimatia texture.

How does the 2D smile simulator work?

The simulator follows the Photo β†’ Design β†’ Compare β†’ Video flow. You draw the smile over the photo, compare before and after, and generate a presentation video.

Where are cases saved?

All cases are stored in the cloud, accessible from any device with your account, with up to 50 cases (5GB) on the beta plan.

Can I use it on a tablet?

Yes. The interface adapts to tablets with support for gestures like pinch-to-zoom, collapsible panels, and a touch-optimized layout.

Do I need to set up the printer before using it?

It's not required, but Smile Editor includes a printer and resin calibration tab to ensure dimensional accuracy before printing.
